My Rock and My Redeemer
The Word of God always asks men and women to respond.
As the Psalmist considers the handiwork of God found in creation and then the great benefit and beauty of God’s Word, he now turns to prayer. He can’t help but have a conversation with his God.

Rich and Sweet
Men love riches.
They don’t love them for their own sake, though pure gold may be nice to look at, but they love them because of what they provide. They give comfort, power, fun, and a sense of temporary satisfaction. This is why the whole world chases after it. Yet, with money’s ability to give and provide for needs, it always comes with the danger of ultimate devotion.

The Word of God
While the beginning verses (1-6) delight in the handiwork of God, these verses (7-9) now turn to the characteristics and beauty of His Word.
God’s handiwork, by itself, was never able to fully reveal everything that was needed for men and women to understand their Creator. Indeed, with creation by itself, apart from the revelation of God’s Son and the written Word, men with their sinful hearts would fall down in worship of the creation rather than the Creator.

The Artist
When I was younger, I used to keep a sketchbook. Many days, I would spend hours drawing trees, bugs, animals, and anything else I could set my eyes on.
The more I observed the world around me, the more I began to see rhythms. The flow of the contours of the bark on a tree, how muscle groups attach to each other, how hair falls down the face, the style of flowers, everything was crafted with extraordinary beauty.
